This Sunday marks the first anniversary of the passing of the late Fr Anthony (Tony) Quinlan, OMI

Holy Mass will be celebrated on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. We remember him with gratitude at St. John Ogilvie Parish, where he faithfully served the faithful for twenty years. May he rest in peace.



Fr Boguslaw Annual Leave

Fr Boguslaw will take his annual leave from 13 August to 13 September. We welcome Fr Edward Wanat, SDS who will supply during that time.



Sunday 27th September - 50th Anniversary of St John Ogilvie Canonization - We Need You!

We are looking forward to welcoming Archbishop Cushley on Sunday 27th September to St John Ogilvie's, where he will celebrate Mass at our 10am Sunday service. This will be a very special occasion and we need your help to make it a success. You could contribute to: catering, liturgy, music, set-up (cleaning, flowers), greeting/pass keeping. Please add your name to one of the team sign-up sheets at the back of the church. Thank you.



The Music rehearsal for our Parish celebration

The Music rehearsal for the 50th Anniversary of St John Ogilvie's Canonization will be held on the 19 August at 7pm. If You play any instruments please join our musicians. If God gave you a great voice please join our choir. Let's use our music talents and make our celebration very special.

Festival Mass 16 August

Celebrate the Edinburgh Festival with Mass at St Mary's Cathedral at midday on Sunday 16 August. Celebrated by Archbishop Leo Cushley.



Special Collection

This weekend (16 August) we are invited to support the Care Fund & Holy Places. Half of each donation will support charitable projects through the Archdiocesan Care Fund, while the other half will support Christian holy places and communities in the Holy Land. Secraments of Initiation for Children for 2026/2027 – Registration Closing 20 September 2026

The Sacramental Programme will recommence in the autumn, with registration closing in September. The earliest that children can receive the Sacraments are:
    Reconciliation P3;
    First Holy Communion P4;
    Confirmation P7.

Please check the Parish website for registration forms. Forms also available at the Entrance of the Church. If you have any questions, ask the pass keepers who will direct you to one of the team.



National Pilgrimage to Carfin

Holy Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop William Nolan, joined by Bishops, Priests, Religious and Faithful from across the country. Together we will gather in prayer before Our Lady, asking her intercession for our families, our communities, our nation, and for peace throughout the world. Sunday 6 September at 3.00pm.



Music for the Homeless Jesus

On Monday 17 August with the Schola Cantorum choir of St Mary’s Cathedral. This concert is inspired by Timothy Schmlaz’s ‘Homeless Jesus’ sculpture, located outside St Mary’s Catholic Cathedral. Part of Edinburgh Festival of the Sacred Arts, the evening will contemplate homelessness and marginalisation through a programme of choral music that speaks of mercy, compassion, and hope. RCIA: An Invitation to Discover the Catholic Faith
